2010 Fundamentals Fall Ball
Our Fundamentals Fall Ball Registration is open. You can print the registration form off of the Forms Page of this website and mail it into the address on the form or you can register in person at Play-it-Again Sports on the Beltline in Decatur from 6-8 PM on August 23rd, 24th, 26th, & 27th or on September 10th from 4-8 PM & September 11th from 9 AM - 4 PM at Academy Sports and Outdoors on the Beltline. The season will begin on or around September 13th and run through October 22nd. The cost for Fall Ball is $40 per child.
As always, we will need Coaches and Umpires to make the Fall Season a sucess. We intend to draft teams and play games similar to our Spring Season. The number and ages of the teams will be dependant on the number of girls who register. If you are interested in Coaching, please complete a Coaches application and mail it in to the address at the top of this page or turn it in to any Board Member. If you are interested in umpiring, please contact our Chief Umpire, Dave Mitchell at 256-654-1132.
We would also like to offer a Hitting and Pitching Fundamentals clinic during the first week of September if we have enough interest. This clinic would be free to girls but would require that each girl bring a catcher who will continue to work with her once the clinic is completed. We cannot provide catchers for every girl and it is a dual commitment for a parent and pitcher to work consistently towards the goal of developing the player into a pitcher. If you or your child is interested, please email me back at president@ddgs.org and let me know. Please include the division that your child will play in next Spring. This is open to all of our girls but is geared more towards the beginning to intermediate level pitchers from Darlings on up.
Open Board Positions
We currently have three open Board Positions that need to be filled. These are crucial to the continued success of our girls' league. We are seeking motivated candidates for Equipment Manager, Publicity Chairperson, and Concession Manager. Please contact Jeron Powell (256-759-1803 or president@ddgs.org) if you are interested in helping out in any of these very rewarding positions.
She's Just A Little Girl
She stands at the plate with her heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded; the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help her, she stands all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball nears the plate; she swings and she misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, 'Strike the bum out!'
Tears fill her eyes; the game's no longer fun.
Remember - she's just a little girl who stands all alone.
So open your heart and give her a break.
For it's moments like this a woman you can make.
Keep this in mind when you here someone forget:

Team coaches are required to abide by this policy statement, and all parents and other adults are strongly encouraged to do so.
